This is the long sideboard's finish, the exterior is black and the fronts deep brown. It's getting close to install time.
A friend dropped off a reclaimed Douglas Fir beam, he's commissioning me to build a stool.
It's a little to big for most of my tools, nothing like the classic work around.
All bucked up with some major checks, but that's to be expected.
Some grinders getting some milk paint.
Some feature wall samples I've been fiddling with.
Same concept just bigger with fir veneer.
This would be fun.

ReplyDeletedoes your shaper work?

Unfortunately the shaper is still out of commission, shame shame i know but i've been getting by with the router table. I could get it running in roughly 30 minutes, but that would be in its found shape. I'd like to inspect the bearings before running it under load, and finding a larger motor (i found it with a brand new 2hp baldor but originally came with a 4hp or greater). The tables on it are deadly flat, it has been a solid assembly table.

The black sideboard colour looks wicked. Is the stool like a Brent Comber kind of deal?
ReplyDeleteDefinitely in the same vein It'll have the weight but but since it needs to be jointed it'll be a different beast. Mr. Comber's jig saw pieces are amazing.
ReplyDeleteYah I used to hate his stuff but then realized it was just jealousy. And I surrendered.
ReplyDeleteWow, Tyler! Congrats on the move! The update photos on your current projects look great. such talent. keep at it!
